Sungazing is a meditative practice that involves staring directly at the Sun for short periods of time during sunrise or sunset. Some practitioners ascribe a range of health and spiritual benefits from the practice, though it is controversial.

This film is a meditation on Sungazing featuring Daniel Giel. http://www.youtube.com/user/DanielGielAgain

Shot and edited by Sandy Chase. Location: East River, Downtown New York City. Camera: Canon 5D Mark II.

  • the problem is, living in the uk, we see the sun once every 3months it seems and increasing 10seconds a day would mean not building up the time for about a decade or so. also its not practical to stand barefooted in soil where i live either as its cold almost all year round, and i cant find soil to sungaze either as i would miss the sun rising time everyday as where i live im overshadowed by buildings and the highest point near me has no access to soil.

  • @LiveLight143 did you do the whole proces ?

are you stil connected then with what exactly ?

  • i did this as a child -when i was still connected.

    i'd forgotten that feeling, thanks

  • Beautifully done Sandy & Daniel!

Hey Lincoln, great to hear you sungaze too :D The benefits are universal for those of us who know our Source as Light.

@dreaminginnoother high anxiety and oversensitivity are NOT positive benefits so I suggest listening to your inner sense of peace and balance more intuitively while engaging the practice to determine when enough has become too much - it could likely mean shorter and less frequent sessions are what work best for your present constitution.

  • Thank you for sharing this video. Namaste.

Please visit the internet's largest sun gazing website SUNLIGHTENMENT (dot) COM. I know you have Sandy. I hope others benefit from sun gazing like we have. Namaste.

  • yay for sungazing. Y do I often feel high anxiety after sungazing? Like the heightened sensitivity he's talking about leads me to feel almost overly sensitive.
