  • this lashing seems a bit too fiddly for my liking. i'd go for either standrad square or japanese square :half the rope, start by just looping the midpoint instead of any kind of hitch (like how this one starts), take both ropes round in same manner as normal square lashing, and then separate for the frapping turns and go round in opposing directions, finish off with a reef or overhand

  • This lashing has several issues. First, you should start from below the horizontal pieces as as to take its weight. Second, lashings that finish with a reef knot will slacken when you try to tie the knot. The best lashings end with the Clove Hitch (yet even then, there is a proper way to finish the lashing). Given The choice, I go with the standard form of lashing.
