Adam, a Virtual Vision Network programmer, has an accident that causes his virtual reality receiver/implant to malfunction. He finally gets a glimpse of the crushing reality of his post-apocalyptic world - a world where countless people, including his own wife and child have succumbed to starvation and disease. Everything he was led to believe was true is a deception to keep the virtual vision alive.
