Regenerative Acceleration Generator Technology for electric vehicles is currently being developed by Potential Difference Inc. at the University of Ottawa.

Regenerative Acceleration is the OPPOSITE of Regenerative Braking which is currently being used in some electric cars.

Regenerative Acceleration allows the electric vehicle's batteries to be charged during 100% of the operation of the vehicle - NOT just on deceleration.

Regenerative Acceleration does not decelerate the vehicle as does regenerative braking in fact as the name implies - it accelerates it.

ANNOTATIONS

Causes Deceleration Down to 877 RPM
Generator output power = 0.98 W.

5) REGENERATIVE ACCELERATION
Infinitely loaded high voltage causes
system acceleration up to 950 RPM
Generator output power = 1.02 W.

6) REGENERATIVE BRAKING
10 Ohm High Current Coil Load
Causes Deceleration Down to 875 RPM
Generator output power = 0.94 W.

7) REGENERATIVE ACCELERATION
Infinitely loaded high voltage causes
system acceleration up to 1000 RPM
- 71 RPM higher than the NO LOAD speed.

HOW GENERATOR HIGH VOLTAGE COILS CAUSE ACCELERATION

At the critical threshold speed or frequency (dictated by the coils impedance) the high voltage coil ceases to act as an INDUCTOR (storing energy in the electromagnetic field and producing a Lenz's Law repelling action to the approaching magnetic field) and begins to act as a CAPACITOR (storing energy in the electrostatic field between the wires).

When a North Pole magnet approaches a high voltage coil above the critical threshold speed/frequency a North Pole repelling magnetic field as per Lenz's Law is not produced because the coil's impedance has impeded the current flow within the coil sufficiently. Voltage is built up in the coil and stored in the electrostatic field, between the wires like a capacitor.

When the North Pole magnet is TDC - Top Dead Centre - neither approaching nor receding away from the coil - the coil's stored voltage, which is now at a maximum, is released through the coil's DC resistance and a magnetic field is produced according to Lenz's Law (at this split second at TDC the AC sine wave is changing direction and as far as the coil is concerned frequency is breifly 'zero' and coil impedance is zero so current is allowed to flow - thus producing a delayed North Pole magnetic field which now pushes away on the receding magnet and simultaneously attracts the approaching opposite South pole on the rotor.

  • It certainly can but bear in mind the energy supplied by the generator when in regenerative acceleration mode is free and our "human consumer and control mentality" does not tollerate "freedom" very well.

  • @tnguyen318 Don't know why I bother to comment in you tube videos. Please read 1st and 2nd law of thermodynamics before making ridiculous comments.

  • Physicists back then (Before 1970's) were also politicians and engineers. They were Scientists involved with Government. They were Writing and Teaching. They were Astronomers and Chemists. They came up with theories. What do you mean they would commit suicide after hearing this?

  • very nice. i seen the toyota commercial about regenrative braking, and thought why cant they do that on acceleration? turns out yall beat me to it. incredible idea. i would love to see this researched more, with more experiments done. your looking at the future right here. its just a matter of how many people want to contribute to bring this to the nearer future rather than the farther future.

  • The future will be great. The Regenerative Electric Car means that it is an electric car that automatically recharges itself while you drive. You use a battery to run a generator to produce electricity which goes to propelling your vehicle. The battery uses only 15 watts to run a generator. That newly engineered generator then produces 30 Watts. The 30 Watts then is minus 15W to go back to the battery which ran it. The 15W that is left is used to run the motor to drive the car.
