This updated NOAA HD graphic shows 24 hours of air traffic on the earth presented in a Mercator projection.

The dataset tracks commercial flights from the approximately 9000 civil airports worldwide. The day/night terminator is included as a time reference. Flight traffic picks up noticeably during daylight hours and drops off through the night. Each yellow tail is one plane in this visualization

  • see how everything is moving towards london

  • If you look at it, there aren't many planes crossing the atlantic.

Secondly, i go to france every summer to go see my family and its funny to see here that there a no planes going from east to west at a certain time and the opposite is true. My flight from Canada to France is always around midnight and on the way back around 2pm.

So cool dude. By the way, i fucking love planes, i wanna be a pilot and im 14.

    Peace

  • It's a good thing they fly at different heights.

  • watch?v=ACzNzx_ZHMU

  • @matthmatthmatth Your opinion is based on current facts... not what "could be"

  • @WhereIsTheBeefBro Don't you realize that it makes sense for travellers to head East in the evening, and West during the day? You fly overnight Eastbound, if you leave late enough .. and when you travel West during the day, you only lose a few hours due to the time change. There are many many many planes crossing the Atlantic, it's a shame you don't understand more about Air Travel to realize how baseless your statement is.

  • Well you can start by improving your grammer!

  • Look like Flying Ants. Lol

  • Wow put it on 1080p and fullscreen, its just amazing...

  • Such traffic analysis shows where power is concentrated in the world.

  • @chechnya, in most of the world there's help available for people with your problem. Seek it out, and you'll be happier (and a better person).

  • @salemcripple My. Bad. XD
