  • Alot of people like zombie movies! I think that the US government needs to get on their collective horse and crank out some zombies damnit! The nation demands it!

  • The core of 24 is not torture : 24 is about an action packed TV series, with a main character who is a kind of American James Bond. 24 deals with : political plots, terror threats, mistrust and manipulations, moles in CTU, Jack Bauer's impossible choices, paranoia..and so on.......

  • or, it just means they enjoy watching a fictional show that that they are intelligent enugh to understand isnt real. Understand the difference between fiction and reality, idiot. You and everyone like you are the reason society is declining.

  • The show exposes the bad guy through cut scenes. In real life there is no 100% way to prove a person is guilty without a trial and evidence and as signatory to United Nations conventions we're in violation of international law if we torture. And people might not always tell the truth in torture, they could just lie to tell us what we wan't to hear.

  • It's a tv show dude! Ease up. I love 24 and it's torture scenes!! Because I know the bad guy is 100% bonafide dirty scum who has a secret to hide and through a little bit of torture the bad guy spills the beans.

  • You're absolutely right. TV is TV, no matter how realistic it may SEEM. Even the non-fiction such as news can easily be sensationalized, not to be mention flat out TV-novels. What this woman is saying is just nuts. People love 24 because it's good television (same reason why people love DaVinci's Code, it's a good book). Although a show like that can sway the masses with lower IQs and there is a lot of those...

  • Hmmm... yeah on that note, I think its amazing that this woman basically suggests that we should base governmental policy and laws on "people's feelings" about a fantasy television program. That's pretty astounding.

Using that rationale, perhaps we should base other decisions on shows like LOST or Smallville.

  • yeah, the situations on 24 are very very particular. they are mostly impossible situations in which jack really does know something to be true and when the environment is just right for the tough tactics to produce results, and oftentimes such tactics had terrible side effects (though the results were positive ultimately). But don't forget the numerous times the show also portrayed non-torturous tactics yielding very positive results. 24 deals with unlikely extremes, not reality.

  • That's because Laura IS a man. It's so obvious to me that she is a lesbian, and I don't understand why people think she is hot (Not that you can't be hot and gay, but you know what I mean.)

  • Unsinn! Using the relatively surprising box office success of a cheap, poorly made independent documentary film like Farenheit 9-11 in the same formula wouldn't be seen as a referendum of public opinion. Then why should a fictional fantasy show like 24 be seen as such? People watch 24 because it's scary and thrilling, not because they automatically "approve of tough tactics" by watching it. If they didn't approve of tough tactics, they wouldn't necessarily stop watching the program.
