Music: Carlton Martin; lyrics: J.M. Field Lyrics--click "more info." Jamoof... Well, I already have a rapper name, so why not give it a try?? No, seriously; I'm a Gemini- I like new things; I'm game. This effort reflects a challenge from certain fellow teachers to put together an "MCAS rap" for an assembly that would "inspire" our third, fourth and fifth-graders at school. We need to shake up their indifferent or outright negative feelings toward the test ... to lighten up... It's all true, too--we've taught them what they need to know, and they'll do fine if they take their time, proofread, let it all shine. Have confidence. As for me--don't worry; I won't quit my day job.
LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS: LYRICS
The test, the test, well, can we give it a rest? All this practice testin'—wrecks the digestion.
We know, hello, that when the showtime comes, you're gonna rock it, tic-toc it 'til your thumbs go numb.
You know, hey, yo, you know what your'e doin'—you ain't foolin'- months of this schoolin'
Is bound to build up, to build up the gray matter—look into the mirror, your brains have grown fatter!!
Let's get down to business, we ain't got no time to fool around, what is this?
You kids are fine, now is your time, the stuff you know will blow your own mind, yo.
Lets get down to business, we ain't got no time to play around, what is this?
You kids are fine, so get it in line, the stuff you know will blow your own mind, yo!
Multiple choice, A- B- C- D, you see that 3 aren't meant to be
The signal words are there, and now that you see 'em, look 'em up an' hook 'em up an' sightsee 'em.
You find 'em in the story and the glory is you beat 'em—defeat 'em at their game each time you complete 'em!
Every page you turn they trick you with their schemin'—shake 'em up an' wake 'em up and show 'em you're not DREAMIN'!
Chorus:
Open response, you restate the question— a good suggestion, could be the best one,
To keep you on track, it's a fact—attack; if you take your time you surely will crack it,
Jack it, whack it, fill the whole page up; to do your best ya gotta get your rage up
The test is long, be strong and you'll ace it—you're gonna do your best- YOU MIGHT AS WELL FACE IT!
Chorus:
Poor fourth graders wearin' hip waders, the long composition ain't for word-haters
They know, we know that when the showtime comes, they're gonna write it, ignite it 'til their hands go numb
Its a wicked long test, no rest, confess-- it takes guts and glory—it's the story of success
To be the best, you know you're gonna make it; shake it, bake it, we know you're gonna break it !
Final chorus:
ok everyone send this to rwj

So, you have a new look now? Are you going to cut off your hair and have "Jamoof" carved into your buzz-cut? It would be a great look... HA!

Got the heads up; well... it IS creative... but, you're right- don't quit your day job.
I can see you were limited by not being able to swear... shucks, it's less authentic. Is that what you left out of the last verse?
