  • @Bournetolive yep, old chinese spoken since han dynasty and before doesn't exist, other than what you said which they preserved archaic elements such as pronunciation.

like teochew for eg. more than 60% of it were blended into local languages.

i guess thru time and intermixing does that.

different dynasties had different official language, china is just too diverse.

  • @tdzheng

Nope, those dialects you mentioned were local dialects, or at best, evolved forms of Middle Chinese (used from after Han dynasty to early Song dynasty) or even Old Chinese (used during Han and before). The language of China is constantly evolving, and although some languages in China preserved archaic elements such as pronunciation, Middle and Old Chinese do not exist anymore. Mandarin itself is a bureaucratic invention based on Central Plains Chinese - it is a koine.

  • why singing in chinese?????? U guys suppossed to sing in mongolian

  • China is made up of 56 tribes and you can imagine the number of dialects. Let me set the record straight, the written language in China is Chinese and Mandarin is now the official language to unify the Nation in both written and spoken languages. It's a necessity and a must to move China forward.

  • @MrJuliet1993 lol hakka, teochew, cantonese, shanghai and many other dialect were official languages of past dynasties before yuan dynasty take place. mandarin was during ming and qing dynasty. what's past is past, only written words didn't change much in millenniums.

i do agree some people take too much pride in their language especially cantonese.

in my visit to HK some people cant speak mandarin in my amazement.

I can speak mandarin, cantonese, and hear&understand teochew and hakka btw LOL

  • BAIYUE1 Youtube account = the only propaganda apparatus Vietnam can afford.

  • @BAIYUE1 The truth is: you are so starving, you say whatever you are told to say.

  • @soundofocean

    I say truth.

    Shame on you!

  • @BAIYUE1 : Shame on you, say anything your boss asked you to say just for a couple of bananas. :))
