Most foreign guys go with f-ugly Japanese girls. Its a well believed (and basically true) observation of Japanese people that foreign men for some strange reason are attracted to homely Japanese women - a la John Lennon and the famously ugly Yoko Ono. Conversely, you see drop-dead beautiful Japanese women with extremely geeky looking and dirt poor Japanese guys, riding on the back of their scooters. Its critical to learn the language and culture if you want to score with choice women in Japan

You are dead on correct, but of course many foreigners will refuse to believe you.

In all the time I spent in Japan, I can count on one hand how many times I saw truly beautiful J-girls with foreign guys. It's very rare, whereas like you said, the J-guys have no problem.

I was able to eventually compete with the J-guys because I managed to penetrate a few J-circles and get some social status among them. Otherwise, good luck, and prepare for a lot of disappointment!

@Lalla8616 I think for foreign girls who are interested in dating J-guys, you will have a much easier time than a foreign guy who wants to date a fine J-girl. A lot of my J-guy friends told me that they wanted to date a foreign girl, and also it is seen as an accomplishment b/c J-guys generally can't get foreign girls. The biggest problem IMO would be the language barrier and maybe J-guys' shyness; other than that you should not have much of a problem.

Finally I guess hanging w/ cool Jguys is useful b/c u pick up a lot of their demeanor, masculine (as opposed to feminine) J-slang, etc. and especially u get to observe how they handle Jgirls, which is invaluable. As gaijin most of us have the looks to attract the Jgirls, but w/o the cultural knowhow looks can only take u so far. U got to know how to play the J-dating game, and that's something we can't learn from some one night stand wannabe "playa" gaijin at the gaijin bar who does ugly chicks.

Remember that one of the traits women love is the "leader among men" trait, which means that if ur popular and respected among a crew of cool guys, then that is a huge boost for u. Obviously for hot Jgirls, u being popular and respected among cool Jguys is about 1000x more impressive than u being respected among a crew of gaijin guys living in Japan, who 99% of hot Jgirls couldn't give a shit less about. That's why I focused most of my social interaction on Jguys at first as opposed to gaijin.

I had a unique situation I guess b/c I had a J-guy friend back in the US who introduced me to a bunch of his boys in JP, and so got in w/ them. I honestly did want to make J-guy friends, so I hung w/ them the same I'd hang w/ any1. They didn't directly help me w/girls, but I figured whatever I'll do it on my own. Of course even big cities in JP are small if u know what I mean, so word got around that I was cool, and before I knew it BAM I was getting girls thanks to my popularity w/ the J-guys.

Is the way to do that (have the jguys unwittingly build up your value first) something you need to think about first - say by telling them stories or profiling yourself a certain way such as about how many jgirls you been with, if you cheat etc? are their dos donts you wanna share

But to answer your Q, yes, even your so-called J-guy "friends" will cockblock you over there. It's just their nature. It used to crack me up how the J-guys I knew--even ones I was "cool" with--would tell chicks to avoid me, I was a playboy, etc., meanwhile those same J-guys would be cheating around w/ like 10 different J-girls! So like I said, you've just got to trick them into vouching for you to the girls without realizing it. Once they do that, you're in and it's too late for them to CB.

The J-guys in the circles did try to cockblock me, but that was AFTER they had already been telling the girls how cool I was, etc., for months, so by that time it was too late b/c the girls were already attracted to me. The guys had already vouched for me without realizing it. And of course, as is common over there, the more J-girls you f*ck, the more WANT to f*ck you after they hear about it. Which raises your status among the circles even more.
