This video shows how I use the Baxter HomeChoice Peritoneal Dialysis Automated Cycler Machine to perform Peritoneal Dialysis. I have to use this machine every night, and stay hooked up to it for about 8 1/2- 9 hours every night. Until I get a Kidney Transplant, this machine helps keep me healthy and alive.

  • It does make some sound during the dwell…i think it moving the fluid from the one bag to the heated bag ….eventually it stops, but it can go on for awhile

  • Hello, how is called the device that you use for connecting the tube to the bag?? i saw that you conect those parts pretty easy. I would like to ask for one of it!!!

    Kind regards,

  • @Juan2302 I don't know what that device is called, but I actually no longer use it since the connectors on the bags of fluid and the lines are different now, and you just attach them together by hand...Check with your kidney doctor or dialysis clinic if you need to use that device on your bags or not

  • do you know where i could get a machin like this? is it called cycler dialysis machine? is so plz help me i need 1 for my grandpa if possible in spanish

  • @sangr3azt3ca In the USA the machine is provided through Dialysis clinics...have your granpa talk to his doctor about going on Peritoneal Dialysis if he is interested in using the Baxter Home Choice Peritoneal Dialysis Cycler Machine

  • Thank you this is very informational. It is step by step. I have 2 make a decision about what type of dialysis. Does this type hurt? Do u feel blooded bcuz that's what I was told it feels like? Good Luck

  • @MsLupita1984 ...Peritoneal Dialysis does not hurt...there may be a little discomfort when your first start, but after a few times that goes away as your body gets used to having the fluid inside...The first few times i did feel a little bloated, but after a few times that went away, and normally I don't feel bloated from the Peritoneal Dialysis...Good Luck !

    Good luck to everybody too!!!!!

  • Thanks, mine makes a loud humming noise all night, might be on the way out!

  • Thanks for the vid, does yr machine make noises during the dwell? Thanks

  • I'm on pd dialysis and I use a different machine than baxter and it does hurt me. I have been on it for 2 years now and it still hurts.

  • I loved this video, it was so informative. I'm a former dialysis patiend myself.

I've always wondered how peritoneal dialyis worked, but I did know, it's a home

option. I see it's the same procedure as the hemo dialysis in a way, the taking

of temperature and blood pressure, the fluid, which in your case is in big bags.

It's similar, only you do everything yourself. I see that you have it down pat,

    Nice video

  • I just wanted to say thank you for doing this video. I'm a nursing student and it's good to be able to see what procedures look like from the patient's point of view. It looks like you've helped a lot of people. Good luck finding a kidney! =)

  • Thank you for sharing. My brother is having his procedure today. Your video has helped me understand his process better.

  • I don't use a mask, I don't use a povidone shield,

I don't clean the machine with bleach and I go swimming and take baths. I am into my second year of PD and no infections. I had a terrible time with pain and problems draining for the first couple months but it eased off and now I rarely have any discomfort. I have put on weight since you can absorb calories from the fluid unless you use the type of fluid meant for diabetics. That's a bit of a bummer and the machine hums all night long-ugh.

  • @Juan2302 It's called a CXD. I'm currently use the same dialysis machine. My clinic has done away with using CXD and spike style bags in favor of the new "Lure" style connectors. Lure screws on to your catheter the same way a manual bag would
