Korean Air, first-ever A380 commercial flights with inaugural services between Seoul Incheon and both Tokyo Narita and Hong Kong on June 17, 2011.

The inaugural A380 flight took off from Incheon International Airport in Seoul, Korea on June 17 at 09:10am, and arrived into Tokyo Narita International Airport in Japan at 11:30 am on the same day. The same flight returned to Seoul the same afternoon, departing at 20:00 pm to Hong Kong International Airport, arriving at 22:30 pm (all local times) on the same evening.

Korean Air has ordered ten A380 aircraft with the first five to be delivered by the end of 2011 and the remaining five by 2014. The airline will gradually expand its A380 services to popular short-haul routes in Asia, such as Bangkok in July, followed by long-haul routes to major destinations in Europe and North America, such as New York in August, Paris in September and Los Angeles in October 2011.

  • Is there a chance that Korean Air will fly these whales to London-Heathrow, since the airport itself is slot-restricted, even though it's not a SkyTeam oriented market?

  • I'm in business class on August 1st on this (NRT-ICN). Cannot wait!
