@ralucagymnast no there is not a problem with that and maybe i simply misunderstood but i reread your comment and saw no compliment to Olga so I assumed (as everyone else here did) that you did not think her as impressive as today's gymnasts
@bbhouk1 You misunderstand me my dear; Olga Korbut is my favourite gymnast of all time, as well as Nadia, of course. She was indeed the mother of modern gymnastics; if not for Olga,(and Nadia later) gymnastics would never ever have had the wide appeal it gained because of her. I dont know where you get the impression that I dont appreciate Olga??I simply pointed out that compared to todays routines, this is very simple. Is there a problem with that??
@ralucagymnast i've seen your comments on other gymnastics videos and most always agreed with you. that's why i'm disappointed you made this comment. you're bashing Olga! Seriously! Olga! who next, ludmilla tourischeva??!!!
at the time this was THE most difficult beam routine in the world
since you have a child (who would now be 12) I WOULD EXPECT you to be at least 30
one would think you be more appreciative of THE innovator of gymnastics...
In those days, it seems like the emphasis on floor and beam was on the "artistic" part of gymnastics and flexibility, rather than athletic difficulty. Imagine, they were considering getting rid of a tuck jump because it wasn't asthetically pleasing on the beam! Nowadays, all you mostly see is difficulty and tumbling on beam- like Shawn Johnson. The beam is starting to look like a floor routine...lol...
I know what you mean, I grew up with so many gymnasts surrounding me that I decided to take my own risks into doing stuff, I'm the only guy in my gym that can do a Korbut salto without harming his family jewels ;) lol.
And you know, some ppl are simply jealous that 8 and 9 year old girls do what tehy can't so just let it slide ^_^
I'm sure your daughter is great but why don't you just post videos of her instead of commenting during this video. We are here to watch classic gymnasts, maybe that's what Penguin is talking about.

perhaps we were both at fault
