This is really good stuff. Most people don't realize how serious this threat is.

A personal favorite of mine is the axe. You get a really good swing with it and it's fairly easy to pull out of the dead(er) zombie. Baseball bats and crowbars can also be quite useful but remember to aim for the neck or the spine when using blunt force. Sledgehammers are good too if you are strong enough. Don't use chainsaws, however. Even though they are effective, you will get contaminated blood all over you.

spray gun + lighter would be my weapon. Just hold the lighter infront of the spray gun and spray some paint. Any flammable color will do just fine. And i agree with raciid, the axe is an awsome weapon. But to be honest you shouldn't be in melee range of a zombie at any time. One tiny little bite and you may be turned into one in a couple of days.

With me, I would actually use my netal baseball bat or nunchuks which are steel tipped

But if you must get within "grabbing range" with it, a hand-axe, bat, or perhaps hammer would be the best weapons, as they give you extra reach and create enough blunt trauma to shatter the cranium and destroy the brain.

I don't think they realize that simply penetrating a zombies brain wouldn't kill it. Simple brain trauma wont stop the signals keeping it moving. You would need massive trauma to the brain or dicing of the brain. That's why bullets are so great. The force of the bullet going through the cranium would create shock-waves, creating massive brain trauma and in some cases (smaller caliber) ricocheting around the cranium cavity and dicing up the brain. #1 rule with zombies is stay out of Melee range

for a good guideline would be to look at the surface area vs force applied.

all of the piercing weps have a tiny area for the force to penetrate, but with the sai its at an increasing circumference so it gets stuck. so look at using something similar to an gladius with a pointed tip and a shaft without changing dimensions for BIS zombie killing

The staff from the overhead swing lost alot of force on the bend, so take into consideration the force lost there, a steel bar would do much better.

Remember that hammers, maces and weights have an extremely short range!

The zombie would probably just grab your arm and bite you. Also, they are heavy.

During a Zombie apocalypse thelast thing you want to carry around is a 30 pound weight while you are running away from zombies. Think practical. A Shaolin-spade (dont know if its the correct english word) is like shovel. With Blades. It can decapitate a human easily, and you got 180 cm of wood between you and your victim. Try it.
