before you talk to scholars look at the teaching of prophet Muhammed (pbuh) sister its ok to ask questions but its wrong to assume an act of a few equals the act of billions i quote from the words of the prophet a few months before his death he said do not oppress or be oppressed also it is true you have rights over your women, but they also have rights over you remember you have taken them as your wives under gods trust. God trusts you with your wives not to beat them but to protect salaam

@judgement786 Thanks for your comment. It just doesn;t sound right to me that taking a person as a wife or husband should give you special power of another person. Men or Women should have the power over their own life and the freedom not to be hit.

don't believe the islam that media brings to u it's not right... take a step don't say the other is hell try to discuss with muslims or just for knowledge read about the real islam and its values and u will see that the steroetype that u have in mind is wrong. thx

I love my religion and I love Islam. We both have some odd things but the majority of things in the two religions are misunderstood by others, like the Trinity, or Jihad.

Speaking as a Christian myself, it is when the wife is going against the will of God and committing great sins. That's how that inappropriate behavior is dealt with after first telling her, then not having sexual relations with her, and then finally "beating" her. The so called "beating" is not allowed to cause her bruiseing of any kind nor is she allowed to be struck in any sensitive part, icluding her face.

If you want to understand Islam, dont listen to the media or the fundamentalists. And keep in mind that many things that appear to be Islamic are actually cultural. For example, even some muslims think that the turban is something religios, whereas in fact it is just an arabic clothing the prophet happend to wear. If he would live today he would probably not wear a turban, and definitly comdemn the acts of fundamentalists.

I recommend you watch Lesley Hazleton on TED talks. (she is agnostic)

Dear friend!

I am a muslim. Not a perfect one but I try my best.

As a muslim my source of information on my religion is the Quran and the life of the prophet alone. And the prophet has "never" in his life time beaten a woman. He was the most gentle soul one has ever known. So who ever beats his wife does not do it because of his religion, but of ignorance and lack of conscience. I did not check your links, because I do not want to ruin my day by thinking of those low-life's. I wish you the best
