This unusual arrangement comes from book of anonymous piano transcriptions of standards: "The Best in Broadway Standards: Piano Solos" - published by Warner Bros. in 1991, and found recently in a charity shop. Unlike many such books these pieces are not mere reductions of the published piano/vocal arrangements, but independent arrangements without chord symbols. To me many of the arrangements in the book (probably by more than one arranger) are interesting, but bizarre in their sometimes crude piano writing. This piece (a 1989 copyright arrangement) took me (at least) by surprise with its strange 'Liszt meets Arlen' bravura ending! The underlying song was written by Harold Arlen (1905-86) for the 1931 Cotton Club show.

  • @PsearPianist

I´ve got a question for you

where can I find the shit

    I know you obtain it

    from a book

but I don´t know if there´s another way

    in Internet or whatever

    thanks

  • The details of the book are in the description (I do not have the ISBN for it).. It was published by Warner Bros. Publications, which was sold to Alfred Publishing in 2005. They might be able to let you have the song. For copyright reasons, I cannot distribute it myself.

  • Yeah, I just love a parade

  • That's good to hear!

  • Being 13 is far behind me, but I agree with the first half of Daniel's comment, as for the second half - I do hope he'll play like you and "select amazing songs", like this one. Bravo&Bravu!

  • I certainly wish I were 13 and had YouTube and other technological marvels to help me. I had to either play music myself or listen to a handful of gramophone records that we had - or record pieces from the radio with a very old tape recorder!

  • Thank you Daniel! Keep up the piano playing - but aim to play like, say, Lang Lang, who is a far more successful (and better paid) player than me!
