Sun News "Interview" with Margie Gillis - part 1

Krista Erickson's interview/attack of Margie Gillis, Canadian dance icon, on the pubic funding she's received over her 39-year career. The only positive is the grace with which Ms. Gillis handled this shameful attack.

We can respond by filing a complaint with the the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council (http://www.cbsc.ca/english/complaint/form.php) using the following information: Sun News; Canada Live with Krista Erickson; June 1, 2011; 4:15PM. When detailing your concerns, be sure to mention Sun News' clear violation of Clause 5 of the CAB Code of Ethics (http://www.cbsc.ca/english/codes/cabethics.php#Clause5).

As well, you can send a written complaint, mailed to the CRTC (Secretary General, CRTC, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0N2), asking that Sun News be taken out of basic cable programming. Scroll down about half-way in this link to find the instructions specific to filing a complaint with them (http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/INFO_SHT/G8.HTM). In your letter, be sure to write out the URL for the online video: http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/video/971454253001 - so that they can still reference it even after the four week deadline for complaints.

The dollar ammount divides into approximately $85,000 per year which Margie has mentioned doesen't all go to her, this money helps sustain other artists as well. This is really a very small amount of money when you think of it. This is just Sun "news" trying to make an issue out of something that should never be made an issue of. Funding for the arts is not the enemy.

Sun News is Fox News Canada in disguise. They couldn't get Fox News Canada past the CRTC because Fox News have a record of lies, distortions and half-truths, so News Corp did some underhanded franchising to Quebecor Media to do an end run around the CRTC.
