Recently I've had a lot of comments and mail asking when I will next be uploading a video, took me a while to get some inspiration etc, but finally once I got my head down decided it was time to upload and explain updates.
First of all, I would like to thank all of you that have been posting comments on my Channel and recent videos about Dee, it's hugely appreciated. I know this quote is overused, as well as the song, but I have previously used the song before and both song combined with quote mean explain a lot to me, so please do not 'take' the audio.

Thing is, I have been feeling fairly down recently about knowing I will never get to ride Dee properly again. Her workload went down from being ridden 5x a week to hacking/walking out once or twice a week for about 20 minutes. For the first 2 weeks, she was very happy just to be chilling, but for the past few weeks she has been going rapidly downhill..

On hacks I now can't even get her to walk through the first half of a field, she plants her feet and if I ask her to step forward her answer is to argue back and rear. Several times on a hack, she has been bolting with me, both mounted and unmounted. She is incredibly spooky, jumping and skipping out to the side over nothing. She argues 24/7, leaps, bucked, short strided and her head is constantly what seems to be in contact with my face fighting for the contact.

I know this horse, and she is not right. At all. If you saw her now, you wouldn't think it was her. She's had the physio and her back was tight, but still after that she is just getting to the point of being almost 'dangerous' to ride. So in the mean time I have stopped riding her, until we find out the cause of all this. I already know there is several things wrong with Dee some could be serious, and it's not her hocks (some close friends I have told). I'm not going to announce it across YT, until the vets have seen her and I can say for definite, but I am worried that she may not be able to be ridden or god knows...

It's still sinking into me that I won't be able to go back to our 'old days' and I get emotional over it. Some people have even said the guts to say 'She's a broken horse now, and it's the end of the line' which made me very upset, and I suppose in some ways yes, it is the end of her eventing career, but not the end of 'us'. I am just thankful to this mare, for all we've battled, never got our dream to simply Event, but she's taught me a hell of a lot and for that, I am grateful. I have been told by many people and instructors 'If you can ride a horse like Dee, you can literally ride any horse.' I know for a fact I will never find a horse quite like Dee, and that to me makes her one in a million.
