National student rugby league champions Leeds Met are in the hat for the second round draw of the Carnegie Challenge Cup following a strong 36-6 first round victory against Warrington Wizards.
The University side reproduced the magic that saw them reach the third round of the competition last year with a hat-trick of tries for centre Jason Mossop.
After a bewitching performance last week against Bristol Sonics which saw Leeds Met run out 52-8 winners, they faced the Conference National side Warrington Wizards at the University's Headingley Campus.
Leeds Met were forced into two changes from the side that defeated the Sonics but welcomed back club captain, Mark McKinley. Winger Frank Mayfield sustained a broken jaw in the encounter in the West Country and prop forward Michael Sykes joined him on the sidelines after suffering a broken leg in Wednesday's Super Six match against Northumbria University.
After a scoreless first half an hour, Mossop scored his first on 33 minutes with Iain Gordon adding the conversion. Leeds Met enjoyed further scores from Nick Walker, Kris Hodson and Rob Hill.
Try scorers: Jason Mossop 3, Nick Walker, Kris Hodson, Rob Hill
Goals: Iain Gordon 5/5, Mark McKinley 1/1
