It's not that uncommon if a higher degree black belt is not available and at that level (not many red belts are around). Renzo was chosen to present the belt on behalf of Gracie Barra. Remember Renzo is not promoting him just presenting.

It's wierd but past black belt, the degrees and the fancy red things are MOSTLY saying ur getting older, unless ur a founder or somebody helping the art quite a bit

gracie academy is run by rorion gracie & his sons (rorion is master helio's oldest son). gracie barra is run by carlos gracie jr (son of master carlos gracie sr.). gracie barra is considered as one of the greatest if the not the greatest competition teams in bjj.
