Hi! I've taken some of these classes and I'm thinking that it looks like the bigger movements are where the release is being done. The bigger movements are done to find out where to position the leg - which is definitely moved! in order to get the release. The release is being done when 'nothing is moving.' There's a slight compression added into the system. From the outside it looks more like holding.

I'm a bodywork therapist of over fifteen years (humans and horses). All that foot lifting and rocking the shoulder to get the scapula moving is manipulative! lol I'm not trying to argue the case just it seemed odd to say it wasn't manipulative.
--I think a lot of people feel the word manipulation means something bad, but we can mainpulate things in a good way too. Anyway keep up the good work.
why is it called non-manipulative? Looks like a lot of manipulation going on to me. =)

it is called non-manipulative as the body is put into a position (called a set up position) and slight compression is added into the specific area. Manipulative work involves a rapid thrust or movement to affect a joint.
