Jack survived a massive MCA stroke on the 8th of January 2008 aged 15years.
He lost the ability to communicate completely and now has Aphasia. He still continues with rehabilitation and will make a full recovery. This video was his challenge on completion of an intensive 2 week LIFT program run by the University of Queensland Speech Pathology Department, thanks team!

  • You're an inspiration. My 12 yr old son had a ruptured aneurysm and suffered a stroke when he got it coiled. He watched your video and is very inspired. Thanks for sharing your story and inspiring us. Best wishes!

  • @ysh1112 Thank you, best wishes to you and your son.

  • Hi

I'm doing research on Broca's Aphasia for my Foundations of Neuroscience class. I've been reading a lot of material, but it's so enlightening to hear a person with aphasia speaking not only about their stroke but about the plight of the disease and suggestions for other people with aphasia and speech therapists. Thank you so much for this video. Jack, wish you the best of luck in everything you do.

  • @PearlOvaries thanks all the best with your studies jack

  • Stay strong, keep positive!! Those are words that anyone can live by.

  • thank you!

  • I have never ever seen a recovery like that.

  • You are very inspiring! Being a mild TBI survivor and listening to your story, you inspire me. Stay strong, keep positive!

  • Hi Jack, I'm a speech pathology student in Victoria and I could not agree more with the comment at the end about the test cards being completely irrelevant...we students laugh at how Australians are supposed to know what the answers are for a lot of them... I will definitely be patient with my aphasic clients and won't interrupt them! I'd love to hear more about what helped you get your message across when your aphasia was at its worst. Congrats on the job too; you'll be excellent at it! :)

  • And you are such a bloody cutie!!!

  • This video is amazing. To think you had such serious brain damage and to see how far you have come and all your accomplishments and goals, a true inspiration. You are going to go so far in life! Lots of well wishes xx

  • Your video is great. Just keep trying. Your accomplishments will be many. The brain takes more time to heal than other organs. My son had herpetic encephalitis at 18, which caused his brain damage and aphasia. See for his journey or Marcus Rosenberger YouTube video part 3.
