This particular version of the segment was taken from a 30-minute syndicated episode, so small parts of it may have been cut out to make room for commercials.

Just wondering why did they jump out of the boat? Wouldn't they of been better off fighting the current in the boat till help came? Or even having the boat move sideways towards the shore? Or would that not of worked? (sorry I know nothing about boating...)

@OliviaFan29 This version of the segment was edited to make room for more commercials. I think there may have been a scene in the uncut version that explained why they jumped out of the boat, but it has been a long time since I saw the uncut version, so I'm not sure.

The only reason I can come up with as to why they jumped out of the boat would be that it might of run out of gas, the boat might of lost power somehow, maybe the engine died from lack of air(when it submerged after it passed the dam), the boat didn't have the strength to push against the currents? Or they just thought they could reath land faster if they swam it rather than ride it out in a boat. I don't have a clue, but great episode. Thanks for uploading it. 5 Star

i go to niagara falls and always see people climb over the safety rails to take close pictures of the falls one small wrong step and they might fall to their death..recently there a young japanese 20 year old student died after falling to the falls,she climbed over the rails straddling them to take a picture and when she went back up again she tripped and fell into the river. i think people need to be more sensible so there will be less tragedies

All boaters need to take their navigation VERY seriously, unfortunately mishaps like this are common to new boaters..

It might be possible that the boat was damaged somehow when they went over the dam, but I can't be sure of course..

@TheSims3LateNight You may be thinking of the one where a little girl dangles from a ski lift as it's going up. "Dangling Skier" I think that one is called.
