    I was brought here by Google, but unlike the morons I appreciated the dance.

    I don't understand what is being said. Why do you think Fokine was a Romanticist?! He wasn't. He had aromantic period as well as many other periods. And like Martha Graham he was responsible for a change in the world. I'm a big fan of Martha Graham. But this is what I think: We woudn't be the same without the work she did. And she woudn't have done it without Fokine's. And he wound't have done without Petipa's... And so on... All of them had an important part to play in today's art

    @livelovelaughdance91 I agree, @ebonz2 serious needs to watch Christopher Bruce's Swansong, for example.

    um.

    its not the 'odd future of dance', as you so well put it.

    its the past. because, as you said she's dead. however, her style lives on, though it'll never be like before.

    @ebonz2

    Honey, no one said Martha Graham did romantic ballet. Hate to break it to you, but thats not all there is to dance. maybe, if you werent so close minded, you could find that in other peoples work, people that revolutionized dance, people that were tired of the straight perfect rigidity of ballet, that were tired of pretending every thing is perfect and pretty in soft shades of pink and white, also did extraordinary things, actually expressed opinions, and changed the world.

    I understand anti-art all to well. A is A. And yes the studied mindlessness of Ms. Graham is more than damaged, misconstructed, and irrelevant. You would do yourself a great favor by studying both the Ballet Master Fokine and the esthetical writings of Dr. Ayn Rand before you reply to me. A Romanticist, ebonz2!

    my good you really don't get it at all. but you know, everybody can like what he/she wants. just please don't talk shit about things you don't really know anything about. martha graham was an incredible woman, with visionary ideas and concepts. it might look a little strange to the eye of people nowadays who are not so much into dance, but she really was one of THE most important "founders" of modern dance, and helped to shape what it is today and what it will be in the future!
