I think everyone misses the even bigger point. Minorities in particular, are denied more gainful employment more often. It is insane to have a CEO of a Shell or Exxon Mobile to earn 8 figures, while an employee at the gas station works makes a very low 5 figure salary. And under Bush, median wages decreased in 2 terms, while the rich became richer, and has gotten even worse since the recession, with even higher unemployment. The wage disparity in this country has to change to cure the economy.

This really puts the spotlight on the great flaws of representative democracy. By pandering for votes from low income people, President Clinton brought down a firestorm on our economy. When the recession finally occurred, he had retired as one of the most popular presidents in history.
