  • @kjftrio perhaps because Bartok and Stern were contemporaries....but as a child I preferred every other non-American violinist to Stern. Now I wonder what I was listening to.I heard Sterns Brahms concerto on the radio about a year ago and didn't know it was him until the announcement at the end. I thought it was so new genius who finally put technique and great expression together.

  • no question the best recording of this piece. stern at his best, which does not happen with every piece he plays.

  • @sababa123 and what about the tibor Varga version of 1956 with Ferenc Fricsay and the TIAS Berlin?
