In August 1995, Bob Costas read one of the best eulogies you will ever hear at the funeral of the great #7, Mickey Mantle. Mantle's friend, Roy Clark, sang at the funeral, which you will hear immediately after Costas' epic eulogy. Here it is, as it aired live on TV.

  • @leftyspade I envy you...really really do...baseball is just not the same

  • Saw Mickey Mantle in 1958 at Yankee Stadium and have to tell you all, as a nine year old,

it was my first visit to a major league ball park, Mantle, number 7, was electrifying. It was a day game, probably no more than 25,000 fans but this guy rocked! Saw him many more times

thereafter. Great part about NYC at the time, the kids, ages 7-15, used to go to the games

with friends and no parents, it cost two bucks to get in and guys like Mantle, Maris, Ford

and Berra were our idles. peace-
