On March 16, 2010, New America Foundation's American Strategy Program Director Steve Clemons and Former Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs James K. Glassman discussed the role that strategic communications should play in United States policy toward Iran.
Glassman argued that Iran is an ideal place for strategic communications and said that everything we do and everything we say should be coordinated to meet the goal of changing the character of the Iranian leadership. The U.S. strategic communications strategy in Iran should include moral and educational support for the Green Revolution, increased communications with Iranians, and refutation of Iranian propaganda.
