You COULD skip it without glitching, but you have to do the Wutai side quest. So there are actually 2 ways to skip it. This is just the cheaper way.

You only get that option if you did the Wutai sidequest, else you have to fight them.
And in a speed run (my vids are all speedrun related) we obviously don't have time to do any sidequests.
