Marty's "White Sport Coat" peaked at #2 in April of 1957 getting edged out by Perry Como's "Round and Round" one week and by Elvis Presley's "All Shook Up" the next, but Marty would rise to the top with his "El Paso" a few years later.

As has been said, why can't music be like this today? 1954-1964 is my favorite time period for music, too.

@billchew450 I had not heard this before but it wouldn't surprise me if he had been. Marty was absolutely a crowd favorite and one of the more personable entertainers among the Grand Ol' Opry crowd.
