Looks like old footage from Hootenanny. I'm still bummed they took it off the air.
I was a freshman in HS and throughly into folk music. Ian and Sylvia are my favs. They complement each other so well. I've had their albums for yrs and now on my ipod. Watching this almost wiped me out. Whoever put this on youtube THANK YOU!!

Just great,thanks for the posting.

Quite a contrast to their rendition of the same classic a couple of years later on the "Festival Express".
She blows the doors off with a completely different take. That sensual warbling is to die for. Of course, they were doing some serious mushrooms at the time.

Brilliant! Thanks.

@fullmooney1 Definitely. Thought that he looked liked JL as soon as this clip started; great to know someone thought the same. Never heard of this couple before. Found them by searching for Early Morning Rain with Gordon Lightfoot and there they were. Now going from clip to clip of theirs, including all the fantastic early ones. Absolutely love them and would love to know their story, as in 'reunion' concert. Did they split for a while?

5-10 seconds on Google would have answered your question, Mr. Lazy. Or is Google beyond your skills?
Glenn Campbell.

BTW, does anybody know who the bass player was? He adds a lot to this performance.

This is great stuff, thanks for posting! Ian and Sylvia were the real deal back then--young, good looking and just radiating energy. Both of them were very underrated songwriters, too.

This is a great arrangement and performance of the old blues standard.
Their musicianship and the range of their repetoire was outstanding. Their versatility probably hurt them commercially, as the big labels didn't know where to put them or how to promote them. But they were true folk artists, as comfortable with an ancient Scotch/Irish acapella, as a country song or an old gospel or blues standard. That is folk music and we need more of it now.
