Bahá'ís believe that there is one God, that all humanity is one family, and that there is a fundamental unity underlying religion. They recognize that the coming of Bahá'u'lláh has opened the age for the establishment of world peace, when, as anticipated in the sacred scriptures of the past, all humanity will achieve its spiritual and social maturity, and live as one united family in a just, global society. Im pleased that you have found your faith! Now you can contiue to practice it and no one will lose, nor gain sleep.
But for others, Bahai is their faith and to them its as true as it gets.
For me I believe in nothing, but I respect them all, even though I have a very hard time respecting the Christian faith due to personal experiences, tis what ever.
@martinpaola - I am a member of the Baha'i faith myself and I feel that this is more representative of the current state of the Christian community and not the teachings of Christ, which are absolutely loving, peaceful, and devoid of prejudice.
And as for homosexuality, the Baha'i faith teaches that the practice is wrong as well, but not to be judgmental towards homosexual persons.
And when a Christian tells me "I'll pray for you" I say "Good! Prayers are helpful, thank you!"
Sorry for the confusion. I was speaking of the Christians who lectured us on Christianity. They were the only speakers who said their Lord was entirely against gays, and that their life of sin will send them to hell. When asked questions about other religions, they just laughed it off. I find more Christians like our speakers were then who aren't. The Christian community today are teaching the words of Christ. Making it the "new" Christianity
Not being judgmental means you don't discriminate.
@martinpaola - Discrimination in one sense is merely distinction for or against. It could be said that Baha'is are discriminatory towards the behavior of homosexuality among adherents towards this faith which forbids its practice, but not towards homosexual persons in general.
As to the Christians, if they would follow the teachings of Christ, the most well-known of which include "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" and "Judge not, lest ye be judged" this would not be an issue.
I wasn't talking about the behaviors of homosexuals. I was talking about the people who happen to be homosexual.
Outside all the text books definitions, Baha'is, currently and to my personal point of view, are a much more opened minded religion. That is what I was getting at. I did not post my comment to start a debate on what could be said.
oh.. "..if they would follow the teachings of Christ" is exactly my point
So Baha'is are not even willing to follow their own precepts? Interesting! They must not think it's very true then, so there's really no reason for anyone to join.
?? because they do not agree with homosexuality means they must condemn the people who are homosexuals?
Thats like saying I dont agree with people who eat at McD's, so I will condemn everyone who steps foot in McDonalds, regardless if they're a good person or not.
Interesting! But hey! If this is your reason to not join the Baha'i faith then sweet!
Ill try and find myself a ridiculous reason why I did not join, because simply not believing what they teach is far too simple.
