This is a free violin course for beginners by Violin Stars. There is an instructional PDF file that goes along with this lesson which can be downloaded for free from our website www.violinstars.com

In this lesson Kim will show you how to hold the violin and bow correctly. Kim has been teaching the violin for 5 years and has taught private lessons and classes in local schools. She started the Violin Stars website during the summer of 2008 and has been teaching many students online since then. She has worked with over 100 students through her online teaching and has had excellent results!

Kim enjoys teaching and she loves to chat with others about music, so if you have any questions or would just like to chat, send her an email at zclipse@embarqmail.com

  • hi ive just got my violin and after watching all your lessons ive learnt so much, youve really helped, thankyou, are you doing anymore lessons please

  • @janbakayi Yes I will be adding a few more lessons to YouTube, but I can't give ALL of them away for free, unfortunately. For a long time I've only had the first 5 lessons on here, but I recently added Lesson 6 and I may be adding 4 more lessons soon so that I will have my first 10 lessons available to watch on here for free : )

  • thank you Zclipse

I really would play violin but I'm a leftie (left hand player) and difficult to find appropriate violin for me.

so could you please help me what I have to do and how can I start learn?

    looking for your advice...!!

thank you again for your lessons.

  • @ml07k - You don't need a special violin. Most left handed people learn to play the violin the exact same way as people who are right handed. You will have a little bit more trouble with learning to use the bow, but you will have an advantage with your left hand technique since that is your dominant hand. There are left handed violins out there, but I don't recommend them because then you'll never be able to play in a group as you won't fit in with everyone else.

  • I have been teaching violin to elementary students grades 4-6 for 20 years. I will share this video instruction with them. Outstanding presentation and great teaching!

  • Thank you so much!!

  • I like your lessons. They are exactly what some beginner needs: simple, clear, easy to understand- and most importatnt- they are focused on topic! Thank you. Keep going like that.

I'm going through and watching all of your videos and plan to do so continuously once I get it. Thank you so much and wish me luck! I'll be posting videos of my progress. <3

  • You saved me the other day. I was just about to touch the bow and you came out and said" you should never touch the bow hair or the rosin or you won't play as well" you saved me!! :) thank-you!

  • omg, i am so screwed, before watching this video i was like touching the bow hair the violin strings T____T

  • I'm very impressed with what I've seen of your lessons on You Tube!

So impressed in fact that I intend to buy the entire set of DVD's you've made,

I also intend to tell my son and my sister about them as well since both of them have just recently begun studying the violin and have been struggling in areas that you address in your lessons.
