I rather like the brisk tempo, but at several moments it's simply sloppy!

@HerrWarja I agree with you. When the peice is done at this speed it's almost as if the different parts are dancing with each other.

I rather like this speed. More lively and fun, but slower it also gets more majestic. Its a win, win (or lose, lose) situation

The brisk tempo here is perhaps in keeping with the so-called 'authentic' practice that is the trend with so much scaled down modern performances as opposed to to the traditional Huddersfield type of yore, where grandeur and not exhilaration, is the norm. Nonetheless, a great performance here. sd goh (malaysia)

This conductor has interpreted this sacred oratorio on the "fast side" in several of the selections posted on YouTube.
It slows a little in the middle of the piece, to normal tempo.
Outstanding tonal quality and excellent diction and overall a great job!
