Egypt - Protesters Storm Israel Embassy -

The Israeli ambassador in Egypt has fled as hundreds of rioters stormed the country's embassy.

The protestors arrived on Friday evening to continue a demonstration outside the Cairo site which has been ongoing since the shooting of five Egyptian policemen on the Israeli border in late August.

Egypt blames Israeli troops chasing suspected militants over the border for the deaths - Israel says it is investigating.

In the early hours of September 10, anger over the already strained relationship boiled over into street violence, as protestors knocked down the concrete walls surrounding the embassy and broke inside, tearing down the Israeli flag and replacing it with an Egyptian one.

Amid the chaos, the Israeli diplomatic team left the building, and eventually the country - although the consulate in another part of the city remains open.

Israel has not commented officially on the attack, except to confirm a break in at the embassy. But reports suggest Cairo may call on US special forces to defend the building in future.

In the meantime, Egyptian police are attempting to hold the protestors at bay, although they have already faced criticism for taking several hours to arrive in force. Up to 450 people were injured in the ensuing violence.

Just one diplomat remains at the damaged building, the un-named staff member providing a token presence.

i'm not sure that attacking embassies is a good idea. there's a long list of violating international accords on embassies, including the false-flag israeli attack against its own embassy in buenos aires in 1992. just a thought: how about a human blockade of an embassy, not allowing any movement in or our, including food supplies...it's peaceful
