I have a question, how come the approach isn't "straight in"? In other words, why do you bank 20 degrees 0.5 nm from the runwway instead of just flying the runway heading 10nm out?

I don't know why are you mentioning "hard bank"....It's just a 20 degrees bank angle turn to get align with the runway......
