  • Rand's definition of property rights is the best I've heard. Property rights are rights of action not possession, meaning that a person has a right act towards acquisition of his goals. Action without property gain is no more a right than a slave has a right to pick cotton for his master's benefit and not his own and by his own choice.

  • @perdondaris Absolutely wrong. Hitler was a socialist that was democratically elected. His belief in a super race was for the benefit of the collective. He deplored the idea of individual liberty. Like most socialist regimes, his was one of two wolves and a sheep deciding what's for lunch. Had individual rights been held as an absolute, Jews would have been executed in the name of the "common good." That is the morality of socialism in a nutshell.

  • Further explanation of Ayn Rand's theory of rights: /watch?v=sTN8jjxah0c

  • I find that most who dismiss Ayn Rand’s morality don’t really understand it. Her “selfishness” is long-term, principled self-interest. People are a combination of the physical and mental, and your self-interest includes psychological values. Self-interest is not to be reduced to only the physical, such as money. Other people can be of tremendous psychological value (i.e. friends, lovers, children.) Rand recognized that benevolence toward strangers is in one’s own interest, in a free country.

  • @MaryJo1950 Indeed, the line between communism and socialism may have been blurred by the persecutors, but that's beside the point. You said that socialists were targeted by the Nazis; that is false. Communists were, and if socialists ended up in jail, it was because they resembled communists, not because they were socialists. He rejected Marxism and the notion of pure private property. Right-wing socialism is not a misnomer - it is simply a different manifestation of socialism.

  • @MaryJo1950 Whoa there, someone's a tiny bit butthurt. I'm not trying to do anything but correct the notion that Hitler's Germany had no connection to socialism. Hitler himself said that "private enterprise cannot be maintained in the age of democracy; it is conceivable only if the people have a sound idea of authority and personality." Many industrial powers supported him, but for the same reasons corporations today support big government - government takeovers eliminate competition.

  • @LeightonsLibrary 2/2 The industrialists loved Hitler & were among some his biggest supporters. One of the earliest things they did was to purge any true socialists from the party. To say that only "communists" were persecuted is also false, particularly since those doing the persecuting also got to decide who was a communist & who wasn't. You're an ideologue just trying paint your own particular ideology as flawless.

  • @LeightonsLibrary 1/2 Like most of your ideological ilk you like to twist history and make up your own definitions. Look up the meaning of the word misnomer for that is what the name of Hitler's party was, a misnomer. Next you will claim that since North Korea's official name is the People's Democratic State of Korea that it must be a real deomocratic state since it has the word in it's name.

  • @MaryJo1950 Hitler was a proponent of right-wing socialism, and the Nazi party was a prime example of the system. The Nazi Party's full name was the National Socialist German Workers' Party. Hitler did eventually relent on some of his anti-capitalist stances for big business support, he was initially anti-capitalist. He did not detain socialists but communists. While right-wing socialism is ideologically quite different from more traditional forms of socialism, Nazism is in fact a form of it.

  • Ayn Rand, another bullshitting Jew. These assholes take trickery to a whole new level. Jews have only faux intellectuals - they are just tricksters, nothing more.
