From time immemorial we have been building houses using mud and mud blocks. However, lot of research has gone into the production of Mud Blocks over the last few decades.

Auroville's Earth Institute (http://www.earth-auroville.com/) for example has come up with CSEB (Compressed Stabilized Earth Block) utilizing high pressure to compress the mud sand cement mix using least quantity of cement to produce excellent Earth Blocks.

But, like many inventions and innovation this technology has also not become that popular through it deserves all round support and adoption.

Use of CSEBs, is all the more relevant now, than ever before, with very high energy cost that goes into the production of conventional bricks. We are also worried about CO2 emissions, Green House effects, Global warming etc. But, the policy makers do not look at use of CSEBs as a means to combat the above problems. May be our Civil engineering friends could suggest ways and means of popularizing CSEBs.

Recently, I had been to Gudalur where I saw one Rs.40 lakhs hospital being built using these blocks. You may click here to view the production of CSEBs.

Your comments and suggestions are welcome.

Chandra.

  • Where can I get a cinva ram / ceta ram in Tamilnadu ?

  • smokin...well done.

  • Oh I am thanking you for calling brick technical support. Yes sir I am sorry for the inconvenience ...did you add water? I see...I think it is your firewall shut down and restart. Now please take my survey and tell w\me how I did.

  • How many bricks got made in this 2-minute video? A dozen? More? Not bad, except for the # of people required. I think a few things could increase the productivity rate (if needed), but these guys got a pretty good rhythm.

  • Good work. But should come into prcatice soon to make a cost controlled construction.

    Thanks to whoever posted.

  • Nice technology , has to come in practise
