@j91ebd YOU ARE AN IDIOT. The Hummer is used WORLD WIDE by the US military, along with another 102 countries around the the world. The H1 has gearing lower than ANY other 4x4 vehicle PERIOD. Adding to its total Diff-lock up, Lower COG, Diesel torque, tire pressure control, it will climb or get traction AND be more stable than ANY other civilian 4x4 simmilar vehicle you can compare it to.

if that guy had had the diff lock on and aproched that hill at a more diagnal angle he would have climbed it and the humber would have been left standing but before anyone starts debateing ask your self why the defender is world wide compared to the humber there are loads of reasons i work on a farm and im sorry as much as i hate to crush your moment of glory a humber wouldent cut it its just to heavy

If they made a hummer with a 90 inch wheelbase, it'd react to that climb exactly the same way the Defender 90 did. Stupid video designed to "prove" to n00bs that the Hummer is great.
Now ask a Defender 130 to try it, and watch it walk up there just as easily (perhaps more easily - it's much lighter) as the Hummer.
I could make a vid comparing the D90 to the hummer which makes the hummer look useless just as easily, by playing to the D90's strengths and the hummer's weaknesses.

Stupid video. You may as well be comparing a range rover to a Diahatsu Terios.
They are completely different vehicles.
There are things the D90 can do and the H1 can't as well as where the D90 can go and H1 can't. It's generally known that the HMMV isn't a mountain vehicle; huge turning radius and is extremely wide for most upper trails. Plus the maintenance and repair on the H1 is a nightmare.

@tegunn Huge turning radius? Huh? my Hummer turns tighter than my ford! And when I put 4wheel steering in, it'll spin! :)
Maint is not bad, just keep up on it or youll be sorry. Repair is not hard at all. Unlike those tiny cars where you have to practically pull the engine to make room to work!

@J0llyR0ger The logistic trail for the Hummer is the closest dealership--Break down? call a wrecker. bad starter call a wrecker. Personally I'll take a Series 2a over a Hummer or a D-90 any day. I can hand start a 2a, manually pump the fuel if the fuel pump goes out. Much the same with a Willys CJ2A of CJ3A..

@tegunn Not true, unless you're one of those people who know nothing about cars. We carry spares and I've replaced a steering box in the field, out in the desert with one from a 80's cadillac that was wrecked and abandoned out there. The internals of the saginaw box were identical.
I have broken a halfshaft while wheeling, removed it without having to jack up the truck, put it in HighLock, and continued "3-wheeling" the rest of the day.

Watch closely. If you can't tell why this video is a deliberate H1 fanboi publicity stunt, then you don't really know 4x4'ing.
Clues - difflocks, angle of attack, path over the rocks, gear selection etc
The dumb thing is, everyone knows the H1 is a decent offroader. Why do you numnuts have to go bashing the D90??? Is it because you're secretly worried that someone, somewhere, does things better than you do?
Oh, and my suzuki SJ could make it up that. Piece of cake.
