This is my performance of Cheng style Bagua interlink palm with swimming body (Liu Jingru version) at CMAT 17 on April 11, 2009. I'm new to Bagua, so there is still much to learn.

  • Sooo... Ive got the liu jing riu Interlink palm with swimming body dvd on order- can any1 tell me if thats the same as the cheng old eight palms? I notice there are 2 or 3 dvds before it - mud wading step and basic eight palms (static palms?) then eight palms, then this set. Is this a swimming dragon set? Bit confused, thanx for any info...

  • @spangledsky777 Typically, 3 levels of basic training in a bagua system. 1st teaches circle walking holding 1of 8 internal palm forms. 2nd teaches 8 basic palm changes walking the circle. 3rd, often called linking or swimming body, builds on these changes and is more free style. I attempt this here. Your 3 DVDs follow this scheme. Jiang Rong Qiao has set sometimes called Old 8 Palms. Good one to learn first. See Plum Publishing " Bagua: The Art of Change" DVD. Highly Recommended.

  • relax your body from the mid chest up- a bit tight. Also, more articulation of movement some of the moves are not clear

  • @userzero55 agreed. These are very good observations. Thanks for your feedback. Also, I should keep body much more vertical, have tighter winding and unwinding, achieve tighter spins, more speed, etc. This was my first bagua effort without any formal training. I hope to do much better at next year's CMAT.

  • Really like this.

  • Wow. Excellent demo for 1st time and no formal training! I'll be at this upcoming CMAT and will look for you. I'll be doing Chen Taiji and push hands.

    -cheers

  • Worth watching! I am always interested in seeing how people interpret bagua flow. :) Thanks for sharing!!
