Didn't John Paul II tell Stephen Hawking that he wasn't allowed to study the beginning of the universe because it was the work of god?
Yeah, lucky the Catholic Church stopped getting in the way of science. Fortunately scientists don't particularly care what the church thinks anymore.

It's kind of a semantic thing, whether the sun moves relative to the earth, or the earth moves relative to the sun. In reality, the whole universe revolves around my nose, and I push the entire universe when I jump.

@Watchdis44 you're welcome to listen to the other side's propaganda too

The church was never against Galileo's scientific claims.
He wasn't tortured by the Inquisition.
The Galileo case has been largely manipulated. Some facts are mixed with Bertolt Bretch's play in popular media.
This is a real historical account of what actually happened.

Thomas Huxley,Darwin's Bulldog, investigated the case centuries later and his conclusion,Galileo didn't have enough evidence and the Church was right to demand the status quo.
