On the 8th of October Vodafone Netherlands Foundation has announced the winners of the fifth World of Difference competition. A competition whereby 5 jobs can be won at development organisations: Plan, Dance4Life, Right to Play, Red Cross and my project. Luuk Eickmans won in the job in the category my project which is a salary for a year working for Cycling out of poverty. They jury indicated that they had found the perfect combination in Luuk of idealism and commercialism. Luuk will be working for Cycling out of poverty from 1st January 2010 from Uganda, for one year, financed by Vodafone. During this year he will support the African partner organisations of Cycling out of poverty in exploring public private partnerships, to make the bicycle projects less dependent on foreign aid. For instance by creating advertising space for companies on bicycle taxis, the local organisations get revenue to make the bicycle projects self sustainable. Do you want to support Luuk in his assignment please send an email to luuk@cyclingoutofpoverty.com
