The EU and civil society: why bother? (Workshop at the NCVO Annual Conference 2011)

"Why should we bother with the European Union (EU)?" "What has the EU done for us?" "We're too small to work with the EU." These are some of the common responses heard when our sector discusses the EU. However, the EU is here to stay.

With an exciting panel of speakers from across the EU, this workshop will compare the ways that national organisations champion the participation of civil society. We will discuss the implications of an EU and civil society Concordat and consider the increasing participatory democracy across the European Community.
