Take Heart Support Group

The North Staffordshire mental health and vascular well being service has established a support group for people over the age of 50 that have been identified as having vascular risks and mental health problems.

The group, called Take Heart, is providing support for people with a pre-clinical condition - either vascular cognitive impairment or mild cognitive impairment by encouraging them to share their feelings and to develop strategies to cope with their symptoms.

Care advisors are giving hope to group members who may be struggling to come to terms with their symptoms. They are also providing ways to plan for the future.

Recognising symptoms which may develop into dementia is providing group members with a medical explanation for the changes they have noticed.
