Woo Hoo! I finally got an avaitor harness on order. I'll finally be able to take Beaker outside. It should arrive in a couple of weeks.

Thanks! ^^

@nogrules I got this Harness at my Bird store, but you should be able to ask for them at any pet store that has bird supplies. If that doesn't work, they can be ordered online off the Parrot University website. I would suggest useing only this harness if Beaker is to be flying outside, all of ther leashes could hurt him if the wind picked him up and he needed to re adjust, or if he missed your mark and had to try again.

Awesome, Thanks for posting these vids. Where did you buy this harness? I want to get one for my cockatiel it seems like the easiest on to put on, and I like the idea of the strechy leash.
I was wondering if they make these for parakeets/budgies and if you would put them on the same way?

@sarajenkins98 So far as I know this is the smallest size, I don't think it would be good for Budgies. You would have to go onto the Parrot University site and see what they suggest. I woudl hate for you to get one and it be to large and your bird either fly away or hurt itself. The website will be able to tell you what size is best. If it is to big I suggest looking at the Avian Fasions site, they have a harness type diaper that would be small enough, I have one for my Linnie.

hey Raine! um, i was wondering what size you used because i have the petite and the xsmall and the petite head part is SO SMALL!! sparky is a male cockatiel and he has a big head, and i was wondering how easy it is to take off their head. it also looks like it will choke sparky because its so small! do you think it would be good if on the xsmall harness i made the collar a bit smaller so its bigger than the petite but not by a lot?

@XsoaproX This is the petite size, and that is all you will need. There is no way to adjust the size of the neck collar, it is a safety that the company put on the harnesses so that the birds cannot hurt themselves by getting a wing out through the head collar. They are easy to put on, you should not have a problem, it will be snug though. Just remember that once the harness is on the head collar will sit UNDER the feathers, he should have plenty of room.

@14Raine14 what i meant by 'make the xsmall head collar smaller' was to maybe sew the front part to make it smaller. but anyway, i also wanted to ask how your cockatiel acts outside and how well the aviator works. and also, is it hard trying to get the collar off their head? especially with their crest i would have thought it a bit of a challenge. And one more question (sorry!) how long did/does it take for them to learn that they cant fly off? thanks!

@XsoaproX You should be okay, I woudln't want to make the head collar to large just to simplify getting it on as you may loose your bird; the harness could shift while your bird is flying. As far as how Chippy is outside, he is very good, but he is not trained to recall back to me. If your bird is not trained before bringing him out I suggest not doing to much traning outdoors, unless your bird is very bonded to you and will fly to you on his own will. Just like a dog, it will take them a while!
