Hey there are two things I cant seem to find online. How do you control lights/ climate in the house? And , will this play various movie formats (AVI, MKV, MPG, WMV) from a media server? Also, how is your experience so far since you posted this video last year.

hi pandaman123213, first of all thanks for the realistic videos. I am new to linux mce and i am fascinated by its potential.
When you got your dvds to link with linux mce do you have to burn the entire dvd content to the disk or change it to a compressed format like x264, or avi. How did you get the image/ picture for each movie/ film. What software do use to burn the dvds? I would appreciate any help. Thanks Milton

Hi and thanks for the reply. How did you install with the geforce 8400 GS? I have a geforce 8800 GTS card and cannot get into the AV Wizard. Works fine with my geforce 7 card.
How do you control your set top box if you use one?
Do you intend to add any md's? In my last setup I had two md's,one booting from its hdd and the other via netboot. Worked very well. Thanks again for the videos and look forward to your next.
Paul
This video is a waste of time. Just read the LinuxMCE wiki instead.

The wiki can be daunting and many times, people just don't know what to look for. Also, alot of it is outdated. Either way, maybe you should ask for a refund...

Youtube rejected my 2nd because it was too long. working on it...
Setup, I'm not using any thin clients yet. I actually have turned off the router functionality as it disabled my internet.
For specific harware:
generic hdd, dvd drive, 2 gigs ddr2 ram, mobo and case. Those don't really matter for compatibility
vid card: geforce 8400 GS w/512 onboard -highest lvl gui with no lag
tuner: pchdtv 5500
cpu: p4 3.0 ghz with hyper threading (I know, not that great)
sound card: GWC USB 5.1
