Maestro Roland Dyens teaches a masterclass at the Fredonia School of Music (4/29/09). He starts with his philosophy of tuning the guitar in recital, then Michael Mendoza plays "Fuoco" form Dyens' Libra Sonatine.

  • I don't think he was being a dick by tuning my guitar. I had relatively new strings and they were being a pain. I was nervous and, while I normally do not have a problem tuning I was having difficulty at the time. He was simply demonstrating that playing a little tune in the key of the piece to check tuning is useful. Even though it was a little embarrassing for me, I thought his philosophy on tuning was very helpful.

  • @Piorkowskiguitar Hi your masterclass video Roland Dyens Fredonia Masterclass has a very low sound, Is there any way of you re posting it with the sound boosted?

  • Game Over!!!! jajaja

  • @JapJackson Don't jump to such conclusions based on the limited info you have here. If you actually met Dyens, you'd understand that he's one of the sweetest, humblest men you could ever meet.

  • "Fuoco" form Dyens' Libra Sonatine.

  • this guy is absolute dickhead, what an ego? just let him play will u? kaori mujari is absolute in her personality, very calm, gentle and proudlessness with herself. this guy may be lot better than her, but she is my true idol, dude i can not describe her with any word. She is just beyond any imagination.... and she is hott aswell

  • great playing

  • @JapJackson Dude he just explained a very correct way to tune your guitar Albeit he is a little anal but still it is a masterclass. There is no single guitar that plays "perfectly" in tune, the laws of equal temperment don't allow it. He was instructing the class to tune to the key of the piece because the guitar is designed to play equally bad in all keys. So by tuning to a particular key you can help negate some of the ill effects that are inherent to guitar construction.
