this was very very very helpfull ive been all day trying to install my mixer and u helped me alot, now i just have one question, my mixer is also an interface and it has a midi to usb output, when I install it on my adobe audition software it starts recording but it stays silent, what can I do? i can hear me talking on the mic and i can hear the mix on my headphones but i cant make it appear in the recording

Hate to break it to you chief but that 1/4 male to male adapter you used is MONO. You just grounded your left to your right, neither the mixer or your interface like that. It's much easier to use a 1/4 to rca y adapter. Or 1/4 to rca plugs then regular stereo rca cables.

Can't you Shortcut Mixer to computer without Audio interface(via USB)?
would there be any difference if you use USB or microphone jack (3.5mm) to connect your mixer to computer ?

i am a drummer, I have a Peavey RQ 200 and i have no clue how to use it to mic my drums....i do not have one of those little red AV boxes like you have but i do have a Horizon straightline Passive direct box and another little tiny box that i think might be active im not sure but PLEASE HALP!

I would personally go to the electronics hardware store and get two mono male jacks, screened stereo cable and two phono jacks and make me the cable I need if they don't already have it in the store... also, man, the male-to-male adapter you used there is mono ... you're short circuiting the other channel ...
