This sim is a masterpiece of art and detail, right down to niggling nuances that will take your breath away when you notice them. The ground forces are astoundingly prolific as well, and you will feel like you've finally found the perfect flight sim... however, after you've seen the horrendous AI throw away all its advantages and repeatedly commit suicide you will start to wonder if its worth it all. When bombing, you must pick targets for your wingmen using a tedious "radar" display.

@rotagen5 You should try their phase 3 between heaven and hell. I hate CFS3 too, but this is like a new simulator

I love WW1 combat buy WHY did they bother ? This mod uses the CFS3 engine...the worst AI and possibly the worst flight sim engine ever produced.
Just like in CFS2, your wingmen wander around and disappear, they NEVER help you out, and enemy AI is similarly unrealistic.
U cant even buy this based on eye-candy alone, Rise of Flight looks WAY prettier.

The guys spent almost two years on this version of OFF. That doesn't include the time for the 2 previos versions that were free. Why shouldn't they be compensated for their time to make all new planes, AI routines, campaigns? Not only that if it is hosted for downloading on a server there are be costs on that as well. If you buy the disc then there are costs to that as well. I can't begrudge them.
A DVD movie will set you back $20.00 or even more for Blu Ray.

I love this game/sim...no trackir 6dof in this footage...he would have been able to really aim, that makes a huge difference !

Looks good but last time I played Phase1 I found the frame rate I was getting not acceptable for good gameplay. How are they now in Phase3? I have C2D@3.4GHZ, 4GB ram and 4870 512mb vid card. If it runs well on that hardware I will buy a copy.
