Why is he holding a weed whacker?

The weedwacker is a distraction as is the load aluminum flooring. Lots of dogs will shut down when the bad guy is holding something, esp something motorized. Leaf blowers are another distraction which will send most dogs packing. Unsure footing is yet another test of the dog's willingness to engage when conditions are not optimal or familiar.

Malinois or Shepherds are not better. They're used more in sport & law enforcement because; they are more complient, easier to handle/train, and have little to no animal aggression.

Any dog is loyal enough to make soldiers out of, regardless of the intent of the trainer. Soon you will have an army of dogs trained to attack strangers, when you feel you can't take care of yourself.

@markbf in the uk german shepherds are pretty much the only breed used for the police, the military, the raf, security companies, lots of schutzhund fans etc, i have a working line german shepherd and my boss trains police dogs, german shepherds are pretty much known as the most versatile working dog

@infernodood3 Bullshit, I don't know where you get your information but the U.S. military used Airedales as their kill dogs in Vietnam and German Sheppard's as scout dogs. Airedales are extremely smart, very loyal extremely good silent killers, all Terriers are...

Little known fact: The Nazis were trying to teach German Sheppard's and Weimaraners how to "READ" in WWII so they could free up soldiers from watching over prison camps.
