  • Went to HS with this kid, its awesome knowing he has represented NJ in his rushing record and continues to play great in Rutgers i hope to see him get picked up by an NFL team sometime

  • we graduated together...who might you be?

  • Big up to Jersey Joe for one of his best collegiate performances. Not to mention it came against UCF's top 5 ranked Run Defenses. He has stepped up his game tremendously and continues to improve with each game. Congrats on the St. Petersburg Bowl success! B-C-S in 2010 Go RU!!

  • Martinek produced huge on the field this season. His game film won't blow you away, but he is a REAL tough runner, quick, has BRILLIANT vision and solid top-end speed. He also is FABULOUS at making that first cut to find the cut-back lane. If he plays a lot I definitely think he will prove himself as a draft worthy prospect. He had 4 of the 5 longest runs on the team last yr. despite only the 3rd most carries!

  • Enforcer: Moreno is certainly the best back entering the draft this year. I was actually quite shocked when I saw his 40 time of 4.63, but he has the burst and elite agility to make up for lack of impressive top-end speed. Some 40 times from highly touted RBs at this yrs. Combine; it was a slow year:

Gartrell Johnson 4.75, Shonn Greene 4.68, Knowshon Moreno 4.63, Javon Ringer 4.60, Chris Wells 4.59, Glen Coffee 4.58, Rashad Jennings 4.56. Stunning that only 7 RBs total ran under 4.55 this year.

  • he is from my home town

  • 3 great RBs all from Jersey all on the Rutgers roster. Joe Martinek, Ray Van Peenan & Kordell Young. I think Joe is the best out of the 3, but Van Peenan and Young are very close behind!

  • Just did some in depth comparing of players in the Rivals database. I compared highlights, measurables, stats and level of competition. I looked at Martinek's film in depth. I now believe Martinek is certainly a top 100 RB from the '07 class. I think he is actually somewhere in the 30th-50th range of RBs for the 2007 class. And Ray Van Peenan should also be in the top 100 IMO & on the cusp of the top 50. Martinek might have a shot to win the starting HB job this season at RU. Good luck to Joe!

  • I hear what you're saying bdawg. "Maybe" Joe wasn't a top 100 RB in the 2007 class, he was pretty close though. He was certainly top 200 even though he wasn't ranked that by Scout. Van Peenan had a slower 40 yard than Joe 4.55 compared to 4.49 & was smaller, but he has better lateral agility & vision & maybe a better burst. 350+ Division IA schoolarships are given to guys every year that will be listed as RBs & both of these guys should have gotten them. Both should be in the mix at RU this yr.

  • I have watched lots of Rivals and Scout videos and Joe Martinek is better than most RBs ranked ahead of him by Rivals and Scout. Joe has a great initial burst, great vision and possesses a surprising leg drive for his size. I would have ranked Joe in the top 100 RBs of the 2007 class and maybe Van Peenan too. I hope they are given a fair shot at Rutgers. If anyone wants me to e-mail them the article on Van Peenan in the Daily Record I will.
